This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am the K-2nd grade Autistic Support teacher at a Title I elementary school in Philadelphia. This year my class was a lucky participant for a new grant within the district. The grant is funding a new ABA program within the school. The purpose of the grant is to create a student profile and from there it creates a curriculum based on that student's strengths and needs. This program will allow the students to grow at their own speed and work on their own individual skills.
Due to the nature of the program and the structure needed for the program and we are in need of flexible seating.
We need tables to set up the room accordingly and to spread out the given materials. We are also in need of flexible seating to keep the children interested and invested in the program.
I believe if I were able to raise the funds for this project it will allow my students to grow and flourish in the way I know they can.
My Project
Our new funky flexible seating will allow my students to have an option when it comes to choosing their seats. My students like to have a say in where they like to sit and what chair they like to use. Being able to provide them with options would make a world of difference. I'm requesting plastic stack stools, Balance Ball Desk Chairs, and Tripod Stools for flexible seating choices.
Currently, we have seats that are either too big or too small.
There isn't a right fit for any of my students. These stools and chairs will allow students to pick one that works for them. This will have them feeling cool and confident and ready for the day.
