Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fourth grade is an exciting year, and it is also an important testing year! Math is a state-tested subject, and science will be tested in the upcoming year. That is why fostering interest in these subjects is so important in order to increase my students' success!
I work in a Title I school in Jacksonville, Florida, which means, I do not have as many resources readily available to encourage a love of math and science.
Additionally, my students would benefit significantly from having more flexible seating options in order to make the classroom feel more like a home. I know my students and I would be extremely grateful for any possible support.
My Project
I hope to give my students the best possible tools to increase their passion and interest for math and science! As a first-year teacher, I do not have a plethora of materials at my disposal to foster this love of learning, especially in STEAM education. I want to make sure my children are not aware of this burden and feel that they are supported in their learning journeys.
STEAM education is so important for young learners, and with these tools, I will be able to make learning math and science fun and engaging for my students.
Instead of reading textbooks and filling out worksheets, my students would also be able to fully experience the joy of making tangrams and growing bacteria firsthand!
