This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are examples of what I call the 80/20 magnetic mystery. Like magnets, I understand 80% of what makes them work, while 20% of their inner workings have yet to be discovered. When I remember the 80/20 magnetic mystery, our work together is phenomenal.

The scholars I serve are individual young adults with individual dreams.

I never assume to know all there is to know about them. Instead, I am discovering the wonders of the 20% that fuels their dreams.

My Project

Dr. Boyce understands the barriers that prevent minority students from pursuing college education. This session will address the mindset that makes going to college seem like a daunting task for some students in our school's demographic profile.

Exposing students to scholarship opportunities is not enough!

Each year, untapped scholarships remain just that - untapped. Despite the overwhelming belief that this reality exists because students lack the drive to apply, the truth of the matter is much more complex. Dr. Boyce will tackle the social-emotional hurdles holding some students' dreams hostage and outline how students may leave college with minimal debt.
