Our 9th-grade students are hard working high achievers. They are committed to volunteer projects in the community and want to go to college.
I work in an urban public school with hard-working students from diverse backgrounds.
Some are recent immigrants, others are from a long line of Idahoans. They have low socioeconomic backgrounds, some unstable homes, and others are homeless. My students believe in their future and want to achieve greatness for themselves, their families, and their community. My kids are 9th graders, all with GPAs above 3.5. They qualify to gain entrance into the National Junior Honor Society. This society requires a minimum GPA of 3.5, as well as 10 hours of community service each semester. My kids are committed to supporting our community. We want to support them in getting to college.
My Project
Our students are hard working and high achieving 9th grade students at an urban, low income junior high school. They qualify for membership to the National Junior Honor Society through their minimum GPAs of 3.5. The National Junior Honor Society requires members to complete at least 10 hours of community service each semester, and our students exceed this amount.
Our kids are committed to improving their community through service and their dedication to their education.
Our school is committed to supporting their dreams of attending college. With a membership to the National Junior Honor Society, our kids will have valuable experience to add to their college applications. Less than 50% of high school students in Idaho attend college. Our students don't have to be a statistic. This membership will enhance their ability to go to college, and motivate them toward their future goals.
