This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of young women who are new to athletics. Many of these ladies are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. I have selected this young group of students to start a softball team because they have shown enthusiasm towards the game of softball. My goal is to teach these students the basics skills of the game as well as the discipline and dedication that it takes to be successful student athletes on and of the field.

My Project

The purpose of this project is to build the defensive/offensive skills of our young team. This project will require the use a pitching machine to help these student athletes get maximum amounts of repetition in short amount of time. Since the vast majority of these girls never played an organized game of sofball, practice and repetition will help build the skills necessary to succeed on the field. This machine will automatically increase both their offensive and defensive skills. The machine will aid with the instruction of proper hitting mechanics and techniques with pitches coming at different speeds. It will also help with tracking, getting under and catching a fly balls.
