Help me give my students manipulatives and materials to explore hands on activities to develop fundamental skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Kindergarten is a wonderful and exciting time for children. I am fortunate to teach in a grade where the students are curious and full of eagerness to learn.
My students are a fabulous and diverse group with varying educational and social backgrounds.
It is challenging to meet all of their academic needs. I would like to give all of them the opportunity to learn fundamental math, reading and art skills , at their own pace, though dramatic play and inquisitive problem solving.
My Project
I would like to provide an opportunity for the children to independently learn fundamental math, reading and art skills. I believe this learning occurs best at their own pace, though dramatic play, inquisitive problem solving and creative expression.
Children love to discover and explore how to use the manipulatives and different supplies on their own and often come up with their own new and creative solutions.
The materials in this project are things they might not have a chance to use otherwise.
My hope is that through this exploration the students will feel a type of ownership in their learning.
