Dr. Warren from Pine Bluff AR is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need equipment, such as jump ropes, hoops, cones, bean bags, and the playground kit to learn more about economics through exercise and active learning.

As a G/T facilitator, my aim is to teach my students how to think critically, be creative, and work together. For many of my students, the comes naturally. However, some students need more practice with these skills. This project gives those students extra practice and incorporate active learning.
I teach G/T, or gifted and talented students, in grades K-5 in my building.
We are located in a community in the South. Our test scores have been on the lower end for the past few years but a we are beginning to see gains. I aim to help increase those test scores and improve the attitude of my students towards Economics at the same time. My students love hands-on learning, which is very important in helping my students learn about exercise. Plus, this project will help to instill teamwork and competition into my students, which will enable me to teach my students how to be creative, cooperative, and a critical thinker.
My 2nd - 5th graders will participate in activities using jump ropes, hula hoops, and bean bags that are exercise-related but have components of skills, such as motivation, critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking, which will help my students perform better on tasks in the classroom. All of these activities will have Economics concepts to learn, such as scarcity, opportunity cost, supply/demand, etc. Economics is very easy to integrate with activities relating to students being active, especially the playground kit. They will learn how to work together at times or against each other, depending on the activity. But, through it all, my students will be exercising and having fun! Can you imagine students working in two groups to put together the skeleton inside their hula hoop the fastest. They will have to move from one part of the room to the other but think at the same time. I think my students will have so much fun they will forget they are even learning.
Without your donation, my students would not have this opportunity.
My school district doesn't have any extra money for my students/school so I must depend on good Samaritans like yourself to help my students out. I try to think of interesting activities for my students. Won't you help us?
