My students need basic fundamental training tools such as quality game balls, a ball rack to store the game balls to aid in strengthen their fundamental skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of coaching a vibrant group of middle school girls. The Lady Tigers strive to be scholar-athletes that model great character and sportsmanship on and off of the basketball court.
This particular group of girls demonstrates a lot of passion, determination, commitment, grit, and pure love for the game.
This past season we went 13-1 in the regular season, falling short to last years city champions. We advanced and finished 2nd in the Western Division tournament sending us to the City Tournament where we placed third.
My Project
As a coach I truly believe that fundamental skills are the key to being a successful athlete. I believe that Middle School Athletics is where fundamentals should be taught, sharpened, and reinforced through repetition. Daily during practice we spend a good amount of our time on effective drills and station rotations. Before transitioning into team plays and playing ourselves.
The shooting spots, shooting grids, and medicine ball will help individual athletes strengthen their shots and passes.
Which in turn will make us a more competitive team. Being able to incorporate these tools into our practices will help us achieve our goals of becoming fundamentally strong players.
