My Students

The SPED students in my new classroom have just begun special lessons with me. It's hard to grab materials out of milk crates, and we need to line them up in order to access them comfortably. It's hard to grab materials out of cardboard boxes and milk crates.

We are in East Oakland and have many excellent students with exceptional needs.

Students choose East Oakland Leadership Academy for smaller class size and rigorous academics. The school is well run and cultivates leadership in its students. Among the programs are karate and after-school tutoring.

My Project

We will be able to introduce more appreciation for supplies by having them kept tidy on the shelves. Our room has chairs, white boards, a student desk (which I use for my desk) an old file cabinet, and round table. There are no shelves or place for Special Education materials to be stored.

Keeping items neat engenders respect for them as well as the process of caring for them.

Students will be able to access puzzles, legos, and personalized graphic organizers on their own in an orderly process when they come to the Special Education Classroom.
