Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach students who have Down Syndrome (9-12 grade). They are currently learning skills needed to obtain a job after high school, make purchases, manage a bank account, and identify different denominations of money.
My classroom population ranges in money math skills from number recognition, to money denomination recognition, to money exchange, checkbook math, and budgeting.
I would like to provide my students with hands on, functional activities to help them excel in their money math skills. This will help them integrate into the community setting, and potentially getting a job after high school.
The number and letter recognition activities would benefit the emerging students, and the workbooks would benefit the mastering students. The game will benefit all students since it integrates multiple levels of money math skills.
