Help me give my students the opportunity to 'see' formulas, graphs, and tables in their calculator. There are so many different ways that we use this calculator! I love that my students have a visual reference for classwork.
My goal is to make sure that all of my students have access to a graphing calculator. I teach high school mathematics. The majority of my students are behind or have gaps in their learning due to circumstances beyond their control. In order to make sure that they can access the same information visually in the classroom, I use graphing calculators to help them visualize the equation, see the graph and access the table for each equation.
We use the calculator for almost all of our activities in math.
Unfortunately, when the batteries die in the rechargeable calculators, a brand-new calculator is required. In the classroom, the students have become very familiar with how to construct the equations using the graphing calculator and have become adept at finding information to help them with their homework. I want to continue with this option in my classroom as it helps my students rise to the level that is required from them in class and helps fill in the educational gaps they are missing.
Thank you for your consideration.
Math is a difficult subject for most of my students. I have found that my academic learning increases in class when I use actual handheld calculators. There is something important about those buttons springing underneath your fingers as you enter numbers or calculations that make it feel important.
Having graphs, plots, and information in COLOR on a calculator is vital for academic learning.
My students are tech kids, they understand and thrive on variations in screens displays and quality of presentation. I want them to feel like math is important and beautiful on a screen. Not clunky and awkward.
This wonder of a device will ALWAYS edge out any phone or app that comes with a calculator option because it is specifically designed for math. I would love to let each of my students check out a calculator to take home with them, but as these are expensive, I only have a classroom set.
