One of the wonders of teaching is watching my students work towards and complete a goal that in the beginning they believed was impossible.
My students are excited about learning. They come into class every day asking what is on the schedule for the day. They are eager to move and be pushed a little harder each day.
Middle school Phys Ed can be very difficult, but my students are looking for ways to improve their skills and fitness levels. Many of them are looking to play sports in high school or even enroll in prep schools.
My Project
I have started a new elective class for middle school this year called functional fitness. The class is for students who are looking to improve their fitness level or students who want a more intimate setting than a large PE class. Our first project was funded within a day. We were able to purchase our first sets of dumbbells and some resistance bands.
The students have really taken to this new elective and are having a blast; however, now that the year has started I can see we are going to need more equipment.
We will need another set of dumbbells and also a variety of wall balls. This equipment will allow us to continue our program as we were hoping.
