Literacy is the heart of our school and students come to school to get the very best literacy learning. I work in a first grade classroom in a school that is located in a high poverty neighborhood.
Even though my students face many challenges, they are energetic, friendly, and eager to learn when they come into the classroom.
They love to learn with their hands and enjoy center activities as often as they can. They are a wonderful group and I am truly blessed to have students that are excited and come to school ready to learn each day.
My students need phonics centers to learn to read. Centers make the learning fun. I base my reading centers around phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. These materials will be my phonics center and allow students to segment and build words. They will be able to decode and sound out words.
These materials will enhance best practices in reading and will help foster a love of reading.
Any donation will truly be making a difference in the classroom. I can't wait to see them be successful and reach their fullest learning potential. The students will be so excited to have fun activities to learn phonic skills.
