My students need manipulatives to make phonics fun! One Short Vowel Sounds 3-In-A-Row Game Set, a Beginning Phonics Picture Card Library, Rhyming Sounds Teaching Tubs, Rhyme Sorting Houses, Vowel Sounds Sort & Match Game, Rhyming Words Sort & Match Game, and Fishing for Phonics would make this possible for my military students.
I am a second year teacher to 21 first graders. I teach at a Title 1 school, and the majority of my students are military dependents. Our school is located in close proximity to an air force base in Texas.
Being new to the profession, I am on the bottom of the totem pole. My resources for hands-on activities are scarce. Most of the materials that I have for my students are left over from previous teachers. Some of the items are ancient. I would love to provide these wonderful items to my students to make phonics fun!
Phonics is so critical at this age. This is the foundation of reading. Many of my students are struggling with the basics, such as vowel sounds and rhyming. These games and manipulatives would help them grasp the concepts through hands-on experiences. Once they get the basics, their reading fluency will increase.
With your help, we can make these learning experiences fun and effective for the kids that will lead our future some day. I want every student of mine to become successful. My goal is to make sure that none of them struggle, because it could affect their educational experiences forever. Hopefully, they will become lifelong learners! We can make the difference!
