Kindergarten is such a big year for students! In my kindergarten class, I have 25 students who love coming to school! For a lot of them, this is their first time experiencing school. Of my 24 students, eight of them are English language learners and we have two special education students. Even though they are all different in some way, we are still one big family that loves to be around one another.
Our students are our future, so it is important for them to gain the experiences and knowledge they need to reach their full potential to do great in the future.
To do this, we need to integrate different resources and materials in the classroom. This not only give sour students the experience and knowledge they need to succeed, but it also engages them to build their love for school and learning!
My Project
My students will be using these Osmo Genius Kits and coding games as a center! Right now, we have one Osmo Genius Kit. The students know that we are fortunate to have just one Osmo Genius Kit, so they are grateful for any time they get to use it. Having more Osmo kits will allow for more students to use them at the same time (whether individually or in pairs) in a literacy or math center, which lets the students get a turn in using the Osmo Kits more often.
This will not only bring even more play into our classroom, but it will also provide a meaningful learning experience for the students at the same time!
With our little learners, it is important to make learning fun for them. It'll engage them at this young age and help them grow a love for learning that they can carry with them as they get older. The Genius kits provide fun, hands-on/minds-on learning games that target literacy, mathematics, and STEM.
With the addition of the coding games, it exposes students to coding at their age in an interactive way. STEM skills are important for our little learners to learn because these skills are important in ALL future careers. As our world becomes more versed in STEM, we need to do our part to prepare our learners for it.
