Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Morning has arrived, and my students are ready to learn! They are all full of energy and excited to investigate what is new in our classroom centers. We are missing one exciting tool and that is a sand and water table. My ELLs need to explore and use their imagination through hands-on activities.
My students are English Language Learners that represent a variety of Spanish speaking countries.
My students are curious and are anxious to explore their surroundings in and out of the classroom. They enjoy collaborating and investigating multiple themes as they are introduced and built upon in our learning environment. The majority are from low-income families and may be unable to provide these essential experiences.
My Project
My kindergarten students are in need of this sand and water table where students can express themselves and perform tasks that lead to problem solving and building connections between ideas. This area would provide opportunities for students to sort, classify, and order objects by size, number, and other properties. It is also an opening to assess students and annotate behaviors which will lead to differentiating their instruction.
Providing my English Language Learners with this creative tool will bring hours of collaboration and provide a stress free environment where speaking and listening skills will be developed.
My students need to increase their background knowledge which in the end will build toward their mastery of the English language and all content knowledge.
