Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!
My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.
At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best at everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.
My Project
I am excited to celebrate Read Across America week with my students! It is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually in the month of March. Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2nd, so I would love to give my students fun themed pencils and erasers to use while at-home learning.
Having fun school supplies will excite my students learning from home as we kick off our weekly celebration!
The supplies I am requesting are not only fun but essential items my students need to succeed while learning from home. I plan on using the bags to place their individual pencil and eraser for distribution. We will have a fun drive-by parade for students to come and pick up their supplies as we celebrate. I know my students will be thrilled to have these items to use! Thank you for your consideration.
