Help me give my students an exciting new way to sit and create with their classmates! They will love being able to wobble around while they think of their next great idea.
My students are energetic, thoughtful, creative third-graders who love having the chance to work in groups to work through problems and create projects. Each day when they come to school they are looking for a chance to make their voices heard and create new things in the classroom.
While working at desks and sitting in chairs may work for some students, it is not the best setting for all students.
Many students work best when they can move outside their usual seating and work with a group.
Our school is in metro Atlanta in an area full of poverty and families often struggle to provide for their children. Many students spend their time at home taking care of younger siblings or helping with housework rather than furthering themselves academically.
To supplement this, it is extra important that their time at school is maximized. The students in my class are driven and excited about learning and are always looking for ways to make their learning more fun and exciting!
My Project
These stools will be a great addition to the independent work station in my classroom. A place where students spend time together collaborating and problem solving. Trying to get nine-year-olds to sit still in a chair all day is an impossible task. These stools will allow my students to opportunty to wiggle around while they work.
Adding additional seating options allows students to move around while they are working which helps promote the generate of even greater ideas.
Allowing students to work in groups and wiggle around helps them learn to not only work together but also allows them to create better ideas through movement. being able to wiggle also helps students enjoy learning and doing their work because they have that additional movement.
