Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low income area. They are hardworking and eager learners. Some of them are English language learners and some of them fall under the special ed umbrella. Some of them attended kindergarten and some have not. Their reading abilities range from reading on grade level and above to still learning letter sounds. They tend to work best in a non-traditional environment, with a variety of seating options not just desks and chairs. They are always excited to be in school and we have fun learning all the time. They learn from me and I learn from them. Each one owns my heart.
My Project
The wobble seating really helps my students who have trouble concentrating because of their need to move around. This seating allows them to move without being a distraction for the rest of the class, and helps significantly improve their ability to focus on their work.
I have a lot of students who are low readers and very shy about reading out loud.
The whisper phones will really boost their self confidence and help them become better readers. This is also a great help with my English language learners, as they can clearly hear their pronunciation.
