Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This is a new school year for me and I won’t have the pleasure of meeting my students until next week. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching for 16 years and all of my students are special in their own way. Their individual personalities, their thrilling conversations, the way their faces light up at surprises, and things that spark their interest. I have worked with students of various ages and I am excited to hear all of the great stories that second graders share.

My Project

The base ten chart will assist with small group math lessons, the carpet is print rich and will promote phonemic awareness, the daily schedule will assist with telling time, the laminator will help preserve worksheets and allow multiple uses with dry erase markers, and the storage drawers will keep student work and materials nicely organized. This year we have a restorative circle every morning and the calendar will allow students to become more familiar with the dates, months, and the weather. The numbers chart can be a big help for those learners who are practicing writing double digit numbers properly.
