Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My little students are so amazing! Most of them are English Language Learners and barely speak a few words of English when they enter our classroom. It is so exciting to see how fast they learn the language and how proud they are when they can communicate their ideas in English.

My school is next to migrant farm workers, camp, and across from the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

Many of my families have been severely impacted economically by COVID.

I strive for my students to know that our classroom is a safe place where we can make mistakes, share laughter, and learn and grow together through the experiences we share. Most of all they will learn that we are a class family where each child is loved and cared for.

Our main focus of character development is kindness. My barely 5-year-old students are becoming experts on kindness and are living out the kindness pledge they say daily.

My Project

Our TK curriculum has some wonderful learning tools included, but it is often necessary to supplement it and create additional activities; especially during center rotations.

It can be very expensive to purchase all the items required for successful learning in a TK classroom, but Teachers Pay Teachers has some wonderful resources that teachers have created and are willing to share with other teachers.

I plan to purchase some new math partner games and write the room activities. My students love to collaborate with their peers and get up and move during center time.
