My Students

Hello all, Mr. Hazlehurst and I are teaching kids in grades 4 and 5 this school year. Our children's age range from 9 to 11 years of age and are so loveable that we want to give the world in their little hands and make the most of it this school year. We learned that our students (most of them) don't have a computer or access to the internet at home. This will allow our children to access information and more in line with the rest of their age group. Last year, we learned that using epic on tablets helped our readers reach their goals. Their reading levels went up and not only were they happy and eager to read but they were engaged as well. This is especially important given that our class, all have disabilities which significantly impact their ability to read at grade level. We need tablets for our classroom so we can start our children again on the same reading program called epic. Mr. Hazlehurst and I decided that we will purchase epic again if our project is fully funded.

My Project

Mr. Hazlehurst and I teach adorable children from age 9 to 11. We want to give our children the world in their little hands. We have tried this way of teaching last year and know it works! So we want to teach a new set of children. They will use the tablet to hear the pronunciation of sounds, words and letters. They will learn how to search the internet and use it as a tool for counting and finding definitions too! Using a tablet will not only teach them to read, but also to hear the full story first, then repeat, and retell the story in their own words. The world will be in their little hands!
