Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is a group of very diverse students who come for all over the world; Dominican Republic, Laos, Israel, France, Austria, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Germany, Dominican Republic, etc. Together we have created a happy classroom environment. They are your typical Kindergartners, motivated to learn and yearning for knowledge. They have been admitted to my Dual Language so that they continue to learn in both languages, Spanish and English. Exploring the curriculum in both languages is a challenge that we approach with rigor!
My Project
Students in my classrooms have limited access to materials in their centers. Kinesthetic learning is fundamental in Kindergarten, therefore having access to materials in the learning center is crucial. The best way for children to learn and engage in learning is through play. Not having access to materials in the learning centers makes this very challenging.
Students will choose the sand table during choice time every day.
It will help those learning a new language as it will help to support their learning through visual cues and engaging in play with friends.
