I enjoy getting to know my students and working with them in the FACS classroom. The content area I teach allows some freedom from the traditional classroom to see students work in a different way. They all come from a variety of backgrounds and I learn a lot from watching them interact and problem solve through the projects we do in class.
I have great groups of students in all the classes that I teach.
They are all so different and I enjoy the challenge of getting to know them and understand where they are coming from. In my classroom we try to teach the students through real life skills and challenges. FACS classrooms should be very hands on and give an opportunity for students to learn a variety of skills that will transfer to life with family, or any job situation they may be in for the future.
My Project
This project includes supplies that will be used in our cooking labs. I am looking to replace some of our outdated equipment that needs to be updated and make our cooking lab units more functional. For example, we have some metal tongs, but those will not be good to use on non-stick pans, so I would like to update our labs with tongs that can be used on our non-stick surfaces. Also, many of our pans are very scratched and I have included new frying pans to replace those that have been well used.
We do a variety of cooking labs in all of our cooking classes.
We would like to continue to choose the best lab experiences for our students and are updating our kitchens to be able to do just that. Thank you so much for considering helping with this project.
