My Students

Each day, our culturally and economically diverse class immerses themselves into math, reading, writing, and social exploration that allows them to explore worlds, and find their voices. Our classroom is a safe place where there are no mistakes, only teaching moments and growth. Growth is celebrated and goal setting expected.

Students are encouraged to take charge of their learning daily!

The love they have for learning and mastering skills makes it easy to love teaching them. There is no place for standardized practice worksheets in our room!

My Project

One hour of our day is spent independently practicing our writing, reading, and word skills we have been taught. This is also the time I pull students to work with them in guided reading and small strategy groups to help them grow as learners.

Flexible seating will benefit the students by keeping them engaged, and by allowing me to better manage 24 students while conducting small group instruction.

7 students at a time will rotate to the surf desks to work on their targeted writing skill 3 times during our one hour block. This gives them a physical transition that allows their brain to reset and focus on the new task on hand!
