Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a pre-k teacher, I have the privilege of working with students from all backgrounds and abilities. Most children enter pre-k with minimal or no exposure to school or standardized learning classrooms. It is amazing to watch each child grow academically and socially over a years time. Each student’s growth is unique to each individual child and is amazing and a reason to celebrate.
There are many areas of academic and social growth during this first year of school and my students need to have the resources available to them to provide different learning experiences to help meet their individual needs.
My Project
The items in this project will provide opportunities for my students to cooperate and interact with learning materials that will increase academic and social growth. The large floor puzzle will allow students to identify letters, as they work cooperatively to complete it. The games in this project, such as Pop and Learn and Don't Let the Bugs Falls, will increase letter, number, and color recognition, while also teaching my students the responsibility of game play (taking turns, being a gracious winner and accepting the reality of not always being the winner). The writing materials will increase fine motor skills and enhance the writing the letters and numbers.
