This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a large variety of students from an urban area in Virginia. My students are typical urban city school children, representing a range of ages, in ninth to twelfth grades, and including standard students, limited English learners, highly motivated or gifted (International Baccalaureate Program), and special education students. In addition, they are mostly minority (including African-American, African, Middle-Eastern, and Hispanic), underprivileged and at-risk students. Many have specific learning disabilities and require varied and specialized instruction.
My students are often tech-savvy, but they do not have access to a lot of technology.
We do not have enough computers in our school to meet our needs.
My Project
Listening is half the battle of learning language, so having engaging, interesting listening opportunities is very important. Help us update our library with some fun new French movies.
New French movies for class and French club will help increase interest in learning language and culture.
Our school's current collection is out of date and there is NO BUDGET for new movies. Having new movies would go a long way in increasing student interest in language learning and culture appreciation.
I have regular and IB French classed and French club after school about twice a month. Movies are lots of fun and very engaging.
