My Students

My students attend school in a very low-income/high poverty area. With a school-wide free and reduced-price lunch rate over 70%, my students face hardships every day.

Many of my students are unable to purchase school supplies at the beginning of the school year.

My students are extremely bright, optimistic, and very caring. These students deserve a fresh and completely prepared start to the upcoming school year. The start of the school year often determines how the rest of the year will go.

My Project

Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, my classroom has been undergoing a major revamp. My students and I have worked hard to create an environment that is fun, inviting, and productive. The new class goal is creating and purchasing more flexible seating options.

Flexible seating will allow each student to work where they are most comfortable and most productive.

A futon would allow several students to have a work space where they can collaborate, study, and work in an environment that is comfortable, quiet, and inviting. Many of my students work best in a home-like area, and this will provide them with that.
