The library is the heart of our school. It is a learning commons where students can meet to find their favorite book, listen to an engaging read aloud, create new inventions in the Makerspace, and collaborate with their peers on projects.
Students enter our library full of energy and ready to learn!
From emerging readers in kindergarten to the voracious readers of sixth grade - all students can feel at home in the media center. As a 21st century media center, we offer so much more than simply a collection of books. Students have ample opportunities to utilize technology as a part of the learning process. They can work together to solve problems in our Makerspace - using a vast collection of found materials. And, of course, they can get comfortable with a great book!
My Project
Having flexible seating options in our media center will allow students to move out of the traditional "rows of desks" classroom and into a modern, effective learning environment. Students will be able to move stools, bean bag chairs and "wiggle seats" around the media center to suit the type of project they are working on that day.
Flexible seating will allow the media center to function as a hub for learning in the heart of our school!
These materials will be utilized by our large, diverse student population. If you walk into our media center, you might see us constructing a Lego tower, reading a book together, or working on a project in Google Classroom. Flexible seating options make all of this possible!
