My second graders are at the age when they becoming true advocates of their own learning! They are creative, inquisitive, and eager to learn. My students are always up for a challenge and love trying to solve problems in new and creative ways.
We are a classroom that focuses on growth mindset.
When you walk into our classroom, you will often hear us talking about "the power of YET." We work on positive self-talk, putting in hard work, patience, and encouraging one another.
My class really is a community. We all work together to help our classroom run smoothly and successfully. When students have ownership in their classroom, are given choice, and have a team of teacher and peer supporters, they feel comfortable and safe to live up to their full potential in the classroom.
Last year, I began flexible seating in my classroom. I saw how giving students the choice of where they sit everyday gave them ownership over their own learning. The layout and set up of furniture and seating choices contributed to building a classroom community and lent itself to collaboration among the students.
Each and every student learns differently.
To meet the needs of all of my students, I began implementing flexible seating in my classroom. Flexible seating allows student to move, choose a seat where they are most comfortable to learn, and gives those students sensory input.
The stability ball chairs would be a great addition to our classroom and would give my students another seating choice throughout the day.
