Fun Financial Fridays: Personalize Financial Learning
My students need financial games, like Monopoly (various editions), Life, DayTrader, to encourage a better understanding of financial operations during our Fun Financial Friday Personalized Learning activities.
My 6th graders give me a reason for walking into that classroom every day! They are talkative, energetic, fully charged AND they are also funny, inquisitive, and want to learn. Our school is a personalized learning school and students learn through authentic, real-life environments.
Ours is a school that promotes both personalized learning and project-based learning to allow each student to grow and master content AND skills at their level and ability.
This creates a truly intrinsic and experiential learning environment where the process of learning and applying those skills are the driving point.
My Project
My school is a personalized learning (PL), where we create playlists of activities for students to choose from and use to learn, enhance, or provide deeper understanding of concepts.
Financial literacy is a skill every student can learn, no matter the age or subject it is taught in, and therefore, we have Fun Financial Fridays to let students have fun while learning about financial concepts.
By creating a Fun Financial Friday playlist to include Monopoly, Life, DayTrader, and other games, our team teachers will work together to create a weekly day of game playlist in English, math, science, and history classes, where students will have the choice and voice to pick what they play to help them learn at their own speed and develop financial literacy skills using the games and lesson activities our team teachers will create. We want our students engaged, having fun, and learning all at the same time and these games will help accomplish that every Friday.
