Fun Finances: Kindergartners Learning Money Skills Through Monopoly Junior
My students need popular character versions of Monopoly Junior Board Games, so they can learn about, and practice, handling money, making wise purchases and making change.
Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low income families, and all the students at my school receive free lunch. This background can mean that students’ families can not afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible, so they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
Kindergarten students learn so much, through play. I would like to introduce my students, to the following financial skills: handling money, making wise purchases and making change. These are all important skills that children must learn, if they are going to be on the path to becoming a responsible, financially literate adult.
I am requesting five different, popular character editions, of Monopoly Junior, so my students will be able to interactively learn about money.
Since the games are based on popular characters, my students will be even more excited about using these games. I am also requesting an electronic version, of Monopoly Junior, which uses banking cards, instead of cash. This will introduce students to being wise and careful, when making purchases with a card. It will also help my special needs students, who might have difficulty counting money and making change. I plan to use these games for many years, so this project will reach far more than my current eighteen students.
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea!
