Our Title I school has around 900 students. I teach English Language Learners from low income families. They come from diverse backgrounds. A large portion of my school's population come from poverty-stricken homes. They are kids with hopes and dreams of making their lives better and bettering the future of their families.
All of our students receive free lunch and most speak another language at home.
Despite their challenges, they make remarkable progress throughout the year. These students will one day change the world and I cannot wait to see how far they go!
My Project
Our school is continuously exploring new ways to get parents involved in their child’s education. We’ve hosted fun family events like Daddy Daughter Dance; Reading Night; International Family Night, etc. We’ve also hosted academic nights to share books with families and to demonstrate reading skills.
No matter the event, each family event is always enjoyable and tons of fun!
Our students love when their parents value education, too. That is why my school needs a photo backdrop. A photo booth at our family events will encourage more families to attend. Kids love being silly with photo props, gathering friends and family, and clicking their cameras.
Our next family event is planned for the month of February. Let’s get more families involved with our fun evening by setting up a photo backdrop. The kids will love it! The families will love it. Plus, it’s a gift that keeps on giving. This will be a new tradition!
