Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
6th Grade is one of those turning points in a young person's life where they can be exposed to the multiple subjects that strike our interest, while our physical abilities continue to grow daily, and the personal outcomes we achieve are quite memorable. My class is a wonderful group that are respectful to one another and truly embrace a family classroom environment. Their favorite activities include the games we practice, the stories we share, and the competitions we participate in
My classroom is a village of curious young minds who embrace scholastic culture.
Fortunately, in a school district that honors the importance of inclusion. I teach in a departmentalized cohort of 6th grade, along side two other general education teachers. We departmentalize in order to prep our 6th graders for the middle school experience and practice accountability. As my students blossom through successes and mistakes, they rely on the each other and their staff to help guide and foster their autonomy. My classroom is about building community and maximizing communication. The assignments we complete in class consist of compounding on new and existing relationships, the importance of teamwork, and staying disciplined to their learning.
My Project
These materials will allow me to improve the classroom that I continue to grow. My classroom environment is a place that my students and I love. We have a flexible seating environment that takes up a lot of space in uniquely shaped classroom. The room is broken into several sections where we have whole group meetings, small group instructional work, and individual meeting spaces where students can gain one on one instruction with a teacher or peer.
With these seats, my students will be able to have a less cluttered classroom and have space to meet for small group with easy to put a way chairs.
With the printer, I will be able to scan personal writings, examples, and fellow student work to their devices and make readily available for their peers, staff, and family. This rapid form of assignment and distribution will allow me to focus my work on the individual student groups who need more instruction. In a highly populous classroom, this saves the teacher enough minutes that can truly help connect a student to life long learning.
