My students need flexible seating in order to help each of them learn in their own way. These wheeled stools will allow students to move and sit anywhere in the classroom!
I am so excited to have started my first year as a fourth grade teacher at a Title I school. My classroom is filled with students of all kinds of backgrounds, cultures, and languages. Over eighty percent of my class receives free or reduced price lunch at school, which means that they come from low income homes. Nearly every student is an English Language Learner so English is their second language.
Despite these hardships and challenges, my twenty-five students come in eager to learn and grow each day in Room 206!
Their engagement and passion for learning keeps me motivated to work hard to provide meaningful, challenging lessons.
My Project
Flexible seating is crucial in making students feel in charge and in control of their learning. It allows students the freedom to work in whatever environment is best for their specific needs. I have many students in my room with ADHD who would greatly benefit from being able to have a fun chair to bring to a quieter, more focused working space.
Having these wheeled stools in our classroom will allow my students to move freely to different work spaces, whether that be the rug area in our classroom library, a desk, a group table/workspace, or just over in a quiet corner of the room.
The bright colors and wheels will get students excited about learning and working at my small group table in our room. Currently, students have to drag the chairs from their desks to the table, causing disruptions. These new stools will move quickly from any area of the classroom, making transition faster and easier!
