Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students have a diagnosis of autism and speech and language impairment. The majority of my students are nonverbal and cannot express their wants and needs. We are able to tell by their moods and reactions to things when they are happy, sad, or mad.
A lot of my students are sensory driven and seek different ways of learning through movement, sounds, touch, and more.
Each and every student learns in their own individual way which is amazing to see. Their growth in the classroom is what brightens our day. Even though they cannot talk, they are still able to say so much.
My Project
I would like to provide a fun and inviting classroom environment when we return for in person instruction. We get a lot of hand me down items and they don't last very long so I want the students to come back to new items to have access too.
These students need fun and inviting items to play with.
I want to provide a new workbench for them to engage with along with a new rug for the area and the students also need adapted scissors for cutting skills in the classroom.
