Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Most of them are very excited to be at the library especially for checking books out. I teach literacy skills and literature appreciation to them on a weekly basis. During skill lessons, the only option for seating is 25 year old hard chairs. They are in good condition but do not give my students the flexibility they desire.

Please help me provide options for flexible seating so my students can be more engaged during lessons.

Children have the need to move while sitting in my classroom. Some of my students are taller than I, making the need for different seating heights necessary so students are comfortable.

Comfort is important for engagement and motivation. The chairs I desire, for my students, will provide a bounce which will give movement and stimulation to the children. If they are focused, they will be successful.

My Project

During library skills and literature appreciation lessons, students can lose focus on the content. My time with them is not their core reading and math time so keeping them all engaged all the time can be a challenge. Complete learning happens when focus is maintained in the classroom.

Your donation to my project of flexible seating will greatly increase the outcome of higher student success in my classroom by giving students the option to choose a seat in which they are comfortable.

This flexible and comfortable seating will aid the students in focusing on my lessons rather than their uncomfortable seats.
