Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade autism class. This will be my third year teaching; prior to this year I taught first grade. My 12 students are all boys, and they love to read, hands on projects, pictures, and videos. They also like to use a lot of hands-on items to satisfy their sensory needs. They all have a variety of needs, academically, socially, behaviorally, as well as emotionally.
My students are incredibility talented and dedicated to school.
The boys love reading and sharing their books with each other. Drawing and Pokemon are hot topics in our room. They are kind and care for one another. They are smart and very proud of their accomplishments. This classroom is full of learning and love. All of the boys feel comfortable and welcomed in our classroom.
My Project
TOON Graphics are engaging comic books and visual narratives. There are many genres that are high-interest for my students such as, Greek mythology, fantasy, adventure, and fairy tales. These books were meant to engage readers and teach them to be life long learners.
These books will change what reading means to my students.
These are genres my students are so interested in. After reading these books and analyzing specific literary elements, my students will have a deeper love for reading. My students need to know a good book can have pictures and be funny, it doesn't always have to be serious and a page filled with only words.
