I teach in a classroom where the students are curious, hard-working, and creative kindergartners. Some of the students have special needs and have various abilities and disabilities. This year is more challenging as ever as I am teaching from home and my students are learning from home. At my school, 54% of the students receive free lunch. In my classroom, I work to educate the whole child.
My children come from diverse backgrounds and are faced with multiple challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences. Engaging and challenging their minds are some most important goals I have for them!
My Project
As you may already know, learning at home is not the easiest, especially for a five year old. This project contains hands on manipulatives that will allow students to become more involved in their learning. Although students won't be able to physically touch these items as they are learning from home, their interests will peak when they see the 3-Dimensional shapes and flat shapes being used in lessons. The kindergartners will love to see the number line while learning math because they will be able to create one for themselves at home. I am excited to see the students' skills soar in ELA and Math with the extra practice journals and the sight word activities during our live sessions.
