My students are wonderful group of kids who come to school excited about learning every day. I teach in a Title I district, where many of the children come from low-income families. My school celebrates growth and promotes a positive culture which can be seen as soon as you enter our doors. We are always looking for exciting, innovative ideas to use in our classrooms. Everyone on our campus strives to make each day a great day for our students to learn!
My Project
The items included in this project are varied and vast in the categories they cover, but they all contribute to an inclusive, active, engaged classroom.
Students need to be engaged in order to learn.
I will use the geometric solids for my students to explore 3D shapes with their own hands to better understand the concept of flat versus solid shapes. I will provide my students time to build, construct, and create in STEM centers using magnetic blocks and magnetic letters. I will give my students the opportunity to think outside the box and work away from their seats using a class set of clipboards. I will provide examples of characters who persevered when they came upon a hard situation with the picture books such as Bears Don't Read, Mingo the Flamingo, and How to Read a Story. I will be better able to lead my guided reading groups because of the knowledge I will glean from the leading book on the subject, The Next Step Forward in Guided Reading.
