Help me give my students the ability to use technology in a new manner. These accessories allow students to become knowledgeable with coding along with bringing in their creative side.
I am a first grade teacher. I am about to start my 16th year and I have had the opportunity to teacher Developmental Kindergarten and First grade. Being a teacher brings such joy to me because I have the chance to watch children grow academically and socially on a daily basis. My students make me smile daily and I am lucky to get to spend my days with them.
I am writing to DonorsChoose because I would love to increase the different types of technology that are in my classroom.
I currently have iPads for each students but would love to have accessories to go with the iPads such as the program OSMO. The OSMO allows students to do math games, ELA games, coding along with being an artist.
My Project
I have currently started using the Daily 3 in my classroom which incorporates centers during math instead of the traditional whole group lessons. The OSMO allows students to work on their addition and subtraction facts along with building with tanagrams. In addition there are components that allow students to use their creativity. This allows students to draw freely what they wish and also allows them to draw familiar characters. The other component I am looking to acquire is the coding set. Coding is such a fun activity for students to do and allow kids to understand what happens behind the scenes of a computer.
