This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It is essential to me that my kindergarteners are in a place where they can be challenged and thrive. This should be an environment that fits their learning needs and prepares them for the future. I want my students to be excited to come to school and learn.
Many of my students and their families have experienced or are currently experiencing poverty and trauma; this should not prevent them from receiving the highest quality education.
The students at our school are unique, diverse and resilient. I can’t wait to welcome new kindergarten Jaguars into our school community with a classroom full of the resources they need.
I believe that a love for learning can be sparked in their first educational experience, empowering them to excel in academics and to see themselves as learners.
With the right tools and support, I have no doubt that a positive Kinder experience can set my students up for academic success and open doors for many careers in the future.
My Project
This project will give me the ability to provide snacks for my students to have between breakfast and lunch and/or between lunch and dismissal. While the students at my school can have breakfast and lunch for little to no cost, kindergartners are very active causing them to need to "refuel" frequently throughout the day.
It is a priority for me to provide snacks for my students because many of them rely on the food they receive at school for nourishment.
When children are frequently hungry, they begin to lack essential nutrients that allow their brains and bodies to function at peak performance. When a student is hungry, they can become very distracted. All of these things can cause a student to miss important learning opportunities and eventually miss important academic and/or developmental milestones.
This project will help take one item off my shopping list which will free funds for me to spend on engaging and educational resources for our classroom community.
