My school is in a low income area with the majority of families living in poverty. Almost all of my students are Native American, specifically from the Lumbee Tribe of NC. My students are resilient, in spite of some of their life experiences, including the devastation they've endured during Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and Hurricane Florence in 2018.
My goal is to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning with all students actively engaged at all times.
It is my dream to inspire my students to graduate high school and attend college in order to give back to our local community.
Many of my students do no have significant exposure to STEM related projects or materials. I would like to add these items to my classroom to help students become familiar with these foreign concepts. I also believe that my students would thoroughly enjoy these items and learn a lot in the process.
I am not very familiar with coding but, I am willing to learn with my students if it will help improve their educational experience!
Considering how hands-on and motivated my students are, I'm positive many of them will find enjoyment in completing the STEM activities included in this project. Not only will this help them with STEM skills, the kits included will also encourage students to collaborate. Help me make this happen for our kids!
