Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a School in Northern California. A half of our students receive free or reduced price lunch, and many are English Language Learners. My students come from hardworking families trying to make ends meet doing all that they can to support their families. Although, our students and families face many challenges, we created a learning environment where all students can thrive, with the use of technology and the support of passionate teachers. Our students are very lucky to have a two-to-one ratio of students-to-devices which allows them to explore the world around them and prepares them for the high tech world they will be entering as adults.
I am passionate about developing meaningful relationships with my students and creating engaging learning experience that will keep them lifelong learners.
My Project
To have our own set of Chromebooks for my students will help me create a true 21st century learning environment. Having access to more technology will allow my students to participate in more STEM activities in the classroom preparing them for the future. My students are highly interested in technology and I can't think of a better way to keep my students engaged in learn then with the use of technology.
As their teacher I need to prepare them for their future and that includes STEM education.
Providing them opportunities to code, explore, and build will better prepare them for what lies head of them. These Chromebooks will also allow my students to learn how to navigate G-suites, and practice internet safety. As well as Osmo coding to introduce my students to music and art coding.
