My Students
My students come from a rural community. Many are children of agricultural workers, or military children whose parents work at the nearby Air Force Base. Our school is in a beautiful area surrounded by orchards, rice fields, pumpkin fields, and more.
My students are inventive and creative, and I want to help them take their skills to a new level that could benefit them in the future.
Hands-on learning experiences help build excitement in a subject for my students. I am excited to bring to them something that can help shape their future careers.
My Project
Every year, our school participates in the Hour of Code and introduces our students to coding games on the computers. But, I want to take that hour of coding and turn it into full STEM activities for my classroom.
By purchasing an IPad for my first grade classroom, it opens the door for many more coding and STEM activities, including the opportunities the Osmo series currently has for children.
Many of my students come from agricultural or military backgrounds, and this project will help expose them to the technology that is leading the way for those fields in the future.
