Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of building and teaching the STEAM elective to 300 students ranging from grades PreK-5th grade. Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch. Though the resources at our school aren't always plentiful, we enjoy coming up with creative ways to complete a successful project.
All students benefit from hands-on activities and self exploration.
My students are interested in just about everything from robots to farms, space, architecture, the human body, dance, novels/plays, and animals. Their curiosity is endless.
My Project
Inheriting the STEAM classroom has been a true joy. In the past month, we have been able to discuss and create projects about plant and animal growth and living vs. non living things. Now we are working on animal habitats.
The materials requested will allow for my students to create, paint, and bring their habitats to life.
In addition, students will be able to utilize recycled materials to create these real or imagined habitats.
Along with the craft supplies, I am asking for Osmo accessories to reinforce letter, number, and word recognition. Osmo is a fun and interactive way for students to engage and build on their foundational skills.
