Our students have super special abilities! They are in the middle school special education class. They range from 6th-8th grade with varying needs.
They have different challenges including intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments but they love to learn and they love technology and anything hands-on!
They are very relational and love to work with others. We have a great Best Buddy program that has students from our general education setting come in to work with our students. We would love to have more STEAM activities/tools available to have on hand so we can continue working with our students on critical skills.
My Project
Our students love technology but they encounter many impairments when using it due to physical and some intellectual impairments. I have seen our students respond well to the robots and get excited when they get to do special hands-on activities.
We would love to provide STEAM beginner activities/tools for our students to engage in that fostering critical skills.
My vision is to create a time where our students with special needs can work on personalized STEAM activities. Some may work on coding while others may work on building challenges with Legos and Magnatiles while others work on art projects. The goal is engagement and learning basic skills like directions, math, coding skills, etc.
We would love for you to help us provide these amazing tools to engage our special needs students. We want to build an inclusive community where our students can do hands-on activities that enhance their learning and make them enjoy coming to school!
