My class is made up of twenty-two, energetic students with creative minds. We are a part of a small school in a tight-knit rural community. My students have begun to understand the importance of having a growth mindset and it shows in their eagerness to learn! They think, wonder and question. They are motivated in everything they do!
My students love working together to imagine and create!
They enjoy hands-on activities where the learning is student-led and they are free to explore and grow. It has been amazing to watch them plan and produce projects from their own ideas.
My class loves to move around the room while working. Most enjoy collaborating in small groups, while others like to work and create independently!
My Project
STEAM encompasses the most engaging, hands-on subjects in school. It provides an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. STEAM activities give students the need to think and be creative in order to find a solution to the problem. These kits will help my students to connect learning with arts practices, elements and design principles.
STEAM removes limitations and replaces them with wonder, critique, inquiry and innovation.
My students enjoy using STEAM and STEM materials during our enrichment period during the school day. They embrace the collaboration time with their classmates and use it to work through the creative process together.
STEAM and STEM kits will create opportunities to produce students who take thoughtful risks, persist in problem solving and collaborate well with others. STEAM is the foundation for the innovators of tomorrow!
