Help me give my students a classroom STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Lab so they can explore and learn through meaningful stations while at school and engineering kits designed for check out and family use at home.
Amazing! Adventurous! Authentic! Kind! Caring! Determined! Intelligent! Inquisitive! Energized! Beginners! Builders! Explorers! Givers! Takers! Rookies! These adjectives and nouns describe my kindergarten students pretty accurately.
As Helen Hayes said, "An expert in anything was once a beginner." This statement is on my wall and on my lips most every day.
These kids show grit, adventure and teamwork in the midst of standards based learning. They show adventure, empathy, and respect as they learn how to navigate their world through social interaction.
My Project
Having access to a classroom STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Lab with twelve stations will provide learning through meaningful play. My students will use the stations to explore, build, create, problem solve, and interact with others while at school. The family engagement STEAM packs are for check out so students can continue learning, through play and creativity, with their families.
Hands on learning in a small group or a family settings is authentic, engaging, challenging, and powerful.
The school and home components will allow critical thinking skills to be developed in both social and academic settings in the classroom and at home.
