Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The sixth grade integrated, co-teaching class is comprised of 34 hard-working students who are dedicated to their own academic success and to the success of the group as a whole. They come from a diverse range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as academic functioning levels. The ICT class unites students with varied abilities and special needs with their general education peers in a nurturing, cooperative environment.

Our students want to learn, and they understand the value of hard work.

My Project

Science can be complicated, frustrating and boring for students. Our job, as teachers is to engage our students and make learning Science fun. The way we can do this is through STEAM lessons.

These materials can help students learn the content by doing hands on activities.

Normal everyday items like straws, paper cups, pompoms and popsicle sticks are invaluable to our young engineers in building simple Machines like catapults to study energy transfer. Styrofoam and bubble wrap will help us learn about thermal energy enabling students to design and build insulators, and straws, sticks and marbles will teach us about potential and kinetic energy as students construct rollercoasters. The possibilities are endless when you combine an active mind, some everyday materials and the design thinking process!
